April 23, 2026—Ericka Good, director of instruction at Smith Middle School, was named the principal at Sampson Elementary School on April 23. Good replaces Heather Motzny, who will retire in June.  

Good has 17 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. She began her career teaching third grade ELAR at Hairgrove Elementary School in 2009 before moving to Pope Elementary School as a third and fourth grade ELAR teacher in 2014. Good then became an instructional specialist at Hancock Elementary School in 2018 before being named a campus content instructional specialist at Smith in 2020. She then became an assistant principal at Smith in 2021 before being named to her current role at Smith in 2023.

Good was a CFISD Model Teacher from 2016-2018 and has participated in the CFISD Teacher Leadership Institute and CFISD New Administrators Institute.

Good earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University and her Master of Education in Educational Administration from the American College of Education.
